♥ Meet my Grand Baby CJ ♥

Posted by Tracy Wellmann ~ August 4, 2015

Hello everyone — I don’t usually share a whole lot of personal family things with my readers but wanted to share our story in hopes that it will inspire others that families can do hard things.

In the Spring of 2015 our 9 month old grand baby came to live with us. He is now almost 14 months.

I know you may be thinking, what? You never told us that you were going to have a grand baby!

We didn’t know – sad, but true.

Yes, my  recent high school graduate is a dad

It happens

Life happens

A child is one of the most beautiful blessings God gives but here is my high school senior about to graduate, plans for college, one time and bam It’s a Boy!

Needless to say I was on a roller coaster of emotions.  Why? Now what? No?  I have friends and family that struggle to have children, have adopted, cried, begged God to please bless them with a child and here is two teenagers – one time!  It didn’t seem fair.

But I had to stop myself and start trusting God, life isn’t fair but God is.

God does not make mistakes – this little baby was meant to be  here.  He has a purpose.

Okay, God now what?

I had two choices to make.

Either curl up and shut of the world or deal with it.

Being a woman of faith and living with a family who is very supportive we are making our new family work.  My son’s senior year consisted of finding out he has a son to being enveloped into a legal battle for custody.  Without going into the sorted details our grand baby had been taken away from his mother last Fall and placed in state care – that is how we all found out that this precious boy even existed.  Once the initial shock began to wear off we knew it was the right thing to do and my son stepped up and asked to have his child come live with him.  Yes he has hopes and dreams for college with a future in education but after much prayer and many family discussions we knew this is what God was asking us to do at this point in his life.  Boy did his life change — well really all of our lives changed.  But God is faithful, He promises through His word that He rewards those who seek after Him.  That’s what we are doing every.day.of.our.life.

It is an adjustment to having a baby live in the house again and all is well.  Our home did not have any additional bedrooms so we had to do some creative thinking with space and everyday living.

My new new motto is….

“When you place everything in God’s hands, eventually you will see God’s hands in everything!”

True fact!

CJ is such a major part of Skyler’s senior year that he took some of his senior pictures with his little man.

We love how they turned out and captured this time in his life.

Congrats! Blessings come when you least expect them! My college senior granddaughter is making me a great grandma in December. It’s wonderful that your son stepped up to take his child. So many young men don’t. A tribute to his parents
Sending hugs from one grandma to another !

Congrats on the handsome little boy. Looks like your son is very proud of CJ. I agree with Chris above. I think it is wonderful your son showed himself to being a man who will care for his child. Not many men do. It happens, he probably figured he would never be caught on a one time deal. But CJ was meant to be! I am happy he stood up and is being a man about it and that you and your family has accepted him. Not easy but it will work out.
